About Kmart

Kmart New Zealand is part of the Wesfarmers of companies operating throughout Australasia.

In 1988, Kmart opened New Zealand's first discount department store in Henderson, Auckland. The store was an instant success with many customers travelling great distances to attend the opening.

 

With more than 1000 customers passing through the checkouts on the opening day, Kmart was a huge success. The car park was full and roads around the area experienced traffic jams. Our customers may not have known back then but it was the dawn of a new era for Kmart in New Zealand.

Today, Kmart operates 15 stores throughout New Zealand and employs over 1000 residents. With our massive range of products, including men's, women's and children's wear; home; health & beauty; outdoor living; entertainment; toys & sporting; camping & fishing; automotive; DIY and everyday needs, Kmart is sure to make anytime a good time.
