Christchurch Earthquake Appeal
To help those in need in the aftermath of the 22 February 6.3 magnitude earthquake in Christchurch, Kmart is collecting spare change at the registers of all of its New Zealand stores. 100% of funds raised will go to The Salvation Army’s Canterbury Earthquake Appeal, which has been relaunched to help in the recovery efforts. Salvation Army officers and volunteers are currently on the ground doing everything possible to provide support and emergency relief for residents displaced by the earthquake.
We encourage you to give generously to the Appeal and our thoughts are with all those affected by the earthquake, particularly where there has been a loss of life and people are missing.

Kmart Community - Working together
We are working with communities to make sure that good times are not just a hope and dream for many Australians and New Zealanders.
Kmart aims to be a sustainable business and takes the role of a responsible corporate citizen seriously – we want to support the communities that support our stores.
There are many ways in which the Kmart Community program aims to do this, from encouraging team members to participate in our Workplace Giving Program to giving support through our stores to local community groups.
With over 26,000 passionate team members in the Kmart family and stores located in 183 communities we have an opportunity to make long-term positive impact on families and the environment.
By working with our customers, team members, their friends and families we can help tackle significant social issues.
Our community program aims to assist:
• Families, focusing on engaging with young children to teenagers
• Disadvantaged communities, by providing resources to those ‘doing it tough’
• The Environment, by ensuring that Kmart is doing it’s best to minimalise our footprint
Community Requests
Kmart recognises that the local communities around each of its stores face their own unique social challenges. With this in mind, our community program allows each store to work directly with its own community on social needs or issues that are impacting them.
Kmart stores can help with small fundraising efforts for local community groups needing assistance to tackle social issues.
To submit a request for support;
• Download the Kmart Community Request Form.
• Attached the form to a letter outlining the request (on letterhead).
• Hand the form into your nearest Kmart store.
